Before choosing a carrier
- Measure your pet standing naturally, including body length and height. Check the usable interior dimensions and the supplier's weight limit. Your pet needs room to stand, turn and lie naturally.
- Introduce a carrier at home first. Let your pet explore it with the door open, then build up to short, supervised outings.
- For flights, ask your airline about your route, aircraft, under-seat dimensions, pet booking and paperwork before buying. A carrier is not universally approved for every airline.
Pack for a comfortable walk
- Inspect your leash clips, stitching and adjustment points before each use.
- Try a hands-free configuration in a quiet setting first. Keep a hand ready on the leash near traffic, crowds and other animals. Do not use with a dog whose pulling you cannot safely control.
- Bring fresh water and enough for your pet, the outing length and weather. Clean the bottle after each use.
- Pack waste bags, your pet's identification and any travel documents you need.
At every stop
Keep ventilation openings clear. Keep pets away from direct sun and hot vehicles. Check comfort regularly and stop if your pet seems distressed. Never leave your pet unattended in a carrier or attached to a hands-free leash.
After the outing
Empty and wash the water bottle as directed, air out the carrier and inspect gear for wear. Follow the supplied care labels.
